Hi folks after the excitement of the Rushden Rumble we are going to probably hold another one day tournament in (hopefully) the first weekend in September (4th or 5th). This time we are looking at two tournaments in one day - one upstairs and one downstairs in the hut. We will definately have a WAB singles tournament using armies from all books except Vlad and Chivalry, oh and forget anything later than that. We will be advocating an ABC system to equal out the armies and will no doubt base it on the Warlords system that they use. A definitive list will be out with the rulespack in about a month or so (if we do get enough "me! me! me's!") However, we would also be having either a FoW singles or a FoW doubles tournament upstairs depending on interest. Doubles is good as its quite a rare thing to do in FoW. Carl King is looking at this side of the tournie (early, Mid or Late???) and I will be looking after the WAB singles . First we would have to gauge some interest first. We were considering Axes and Axis as the event name. Winners on trophies would have this event name and FoW or WAB winner etc.... I do realise that WAB 2.0 may be coming out soon and we look probably to having this at the tournament - however if it doesn't materialise within a good month or so before the tournament we will settle for WAB 1.5. All AOA armies are fine except no Crusaders or any other later armies. If you want a historical range it will be Sumerians to Normans. Anything after the battle of Hastings then you can forget it. Again the rules pack will sort this. So let's gauge some interest from the Bedford guys! ;D

I have had confirmation of the date for Axes and Axis 2010 and it will be Saturday 4th September at the Scout Hall Brookes Close in Rushden. We are looking for 16 players for FoW and 16 for WAB (more than likely be 2.0 now). We will be one of the first to use WAB 2.0 for a competition if it does come out in time. There are currently 12 places left for each competition so if you are interested pop over here phoenixgamingrushden.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=clubevents&action=display&thread=995 and sign up. Its early days yet but from my experience these things tend to get snapped up quick nearer the time. We are asking for lists to be handed in (sent in) two weeks before the event as with the nature of both genres we need to ensure that everything is ok. The last thing we want is people writing out their lists in the corridor as what happened in the Rumble for one team. I did mention this as a joke prior to that tournament and didn't really expect that to happen. I know there are a number of FoW and WAB players at Bedford it would great to see you all there.

Forgive my ignorance...ABC System? Does the Sumerian to 1066 mean I could have an Egyptian charriot running down a Saxon Huscarl? (sharp intake of breath from other historical purists!) Dave ;D

Go for it Dave it may be your only chance to use them. To save me looking back what books are going to be used for the FOW comp?

Yes indeedy and if you are using them Dave you will get more points to build your army as Egyptians are C listed! I would prefer you to run down some rather nasty Danes running around the club with beserkers, godis and all! (I do refer to the models heh heh!) - but if Saxon Hurscals come your way then you can run them over with your chariots too! Just leave the Macedonians alone!
Ok at the moment we have the rules for WAB 1.5 and are just finishing the rules pack for this. However if WAB 2.0 comes out before July 4th 2010 then we will use those rules. We would rather a couple of months for people to get used to the new rules (and forge our own tournie errata just in case of written discrepencies) otherwise a month just will leave a few gaps in knowledge required for the tournament. If it doesn't show by then then we will use WAB 1.5. Now currently we are employing the ABC system which evens up the playing field so to speak. There are other explanations that go with this but best to wait for the actual rulespack which Simon is going over. This ABC system was going to be used for the WAB Derby tournament in 2009 but it was called off. It was developed by Tim Haslam and Mark Muslek. So it is these rules that we have piggybacked on and changed a few things to suit the tournament. It will be safe to say that certain armies will have a few army build points deficit as they are hard as nails (A's) at 1850pts, some will be normal (B's) at 2000pts for a build and weaker armies (C's) will have 2200pts to make a list from. Although this may all change with WAB 2.0 - but the eras won't.
Terry - as I'm not up with FoW as such you really should ask Stephen although he is in the middle of writing the FoW rules pack. It will definately be Late war (1500pts) though. So all lists for that I suppose will be fine.

For FoW it will indeed be Late War. Basically any of the Late War books are fine, plus also all of the Late War Official PDF lists on Battlefront's Website. (Covering things such as the Poles, British Commando's, etc).
The Rules Pack for the Flames tournament will be done by the end of the week. I'm just currently making some revisions as a result of some feedback from the Phoenix Flames players.
