OK Martyn, troop per model is good for me - that's how my Brits were organised. I've got plenty of Infantry (+ separate warriors) if required. Just for interest (and possible future use), this is the org of my Brits - docs.google.com/open?id=0B4M2C1MhwKKrS3BPYVAxVXdRZ2VUZ0ROcGJKM2QxZwWill have to work out the CWC points!! I've always liked that quote, sums a lot of senior officers up for me!! D

Damon & Steven
I had a stock take of my toys last night and suggest 7,000 points of British against 3,500 pts of Russian. CWC has constraints on th etotal number of assets per Battlegroup however many points you go up to; so you can have a max of 12 tanks, 6 artillery assets, 2 helicopters etc. So not much point in trying to push beyond 7,000 pts.

That's one of the things I'm not keen on in CWC, I can't work out how they came to those figures either. I fully agree with restricting the numbers per 1000 points. But restricting the British to 12 Tank Units per Battlegroup whilst the Russians are restricted to 9 per 1000 points seems daft. So no matter what formation I field, I can only have 12 tank units if I'm British? If I was to field 7 Bde as per it's real-life year 2000 Orbat, I would have 24 tank units. Maybe it's to simulate the overwhelming odds WarPac had, but in that case why not restrict the Brits to 6 per 1000 or something similar. I'm sure they had their reasons, but it still annoys me!!! D

I suspect its supposed to be about game balance rather than historical accuracy. The flexibility of the BG system is one of the things I like about CWC over the organisation charts and hellish complexity of TTG's Challeger rules from the '80s and '90s, which were my first introduction into modern micro armour games.
Also, I have to admit to not knowing enough about the detailed NATO / WARPAC orders of battle to be offended by CWC's arbitrary restrictions.
My British force was originally based up for Modern Spearhead, hence I've got nearly 40 tanks, but only 18 infantry/APC teams. Perhaps the CWC restrictions are to force us to use geinuinely all-arms forces and put the tank in to something like its proper proportion compared to infantry and other supporting arms ? Just a thought.
Shall we see how it works out in the game and then we can kick around any ideas for tweaking the lists?

Aye, I suppose I'm slightly miffed by the fact that I'd never be able to use my armoured brigade under those restrictions. Although there's no reason that scenarios can't be played using "realistic" formations, especially in a campaign setting.
As you say - best to play it first & see how it goes!!

Right chaps,
Are we happy if I put together a little scenario and Steven takes control of Her Britannic Majesty's finest and Damon the Russkis ? I'll set the table up and generally 'umpire' ?
Is that ok ? Remember - 3,500 pts of Soviets and 7,000 of British.
see you Sunday. Martyn

Well, a cracking match was had!! It looked a bit dodgy near the start when several Chieftains were knocked out, but the Soviet Artillery, although suppressing the odd unit, was too distributed to be effective at knocking units out.
The Brits pushed forward hard and this combined with the fact the Soviets decided to sulk and refuse to move meant they got their bridge down. Once they crossed it was all over for the Soviets who ,despite managing to recover & knock some 432s out, were too far gone to make a come back.
Good fun & looking forward to the next one!!

Good to see the Soviets given a d**n fine thrashing by the plucky Brits and the superb comander who led his Chieftans well.
We must petition the committee for some 1/300 trees and buildings!
