CASSANDER Κασσανδρος - Half Elf Oracle
Casander was the result of the meeting of a sacred temple prostitute and a wandering elf.
Raised amongst the hetairas - problems with his birth meant he has very poor sight and one of the temple guards noticing his skill in using sound to move taught him the basics of the greek fighting styles including Pankration.
He was inducted into the mysteries and spent time with the oracles and was eventually inducted into the higher mysteries – he is following his gods desires and is wandering the world looking for further insights.

I am collecting my core rules from the post office on Saturday morning ;D I have been inspired after reading all your character and tribe ideas. So I want to add my character to the mix. My character is originally from one of the seafaring city states. Some years before he was part of a military expedition to aid a colony that his city had established far upriver. This colony, on the banks of one of the great rivers, was established to exploit the vast timber resources of the area. Providing a near endless supply of construction material for his city's naval and merchant fleets. The colony's careless exploitation of the forest had angered the local tribes who now attacked the colonists whenever they ventured beyond their walls. The aim of the military expedition was to clear the area of the local tribes. They did not succeed and only a few returned years later to tell of the massacre, the loss of the colony and of their desperate march home. My character was one of the few. My character was then sent back, to observe, to integrate and to learn how to fight in such terrain. Perhaps to foster good relations or even alliances. I am thinking he was trained to fight in a style similar to hoplite warfare, so although experienced in pitched battles his skills are lacking when it comes to one vs one. Therefore, his aim is to improve as a fighter or ranger. I am thinking his ability to flee, traverse the great forest and return to his city years later may indicate potential for the ranger class. I have some other ideas if this is not suitable. update: After doing some more reading tonight I have settled on a Human Ranger. Put the finishing touches to my character earlier and finally settled on the name Thallos. bought weapons and armour etc, but planning to ask on Monday about other vital adventuring equipment as I have a few gp spare. I chose two character traits and wanted to give a little background to each: Character traits Basic – Armour Expert: reduce armour check penalty by 1 to a minimum of 0 From a very young age Thallos took part in non-lethal hoplite battles with neighbouring cities. These ‘battles’ are in fact great sporting events popular among a number of cities and mark important religious festivals. Children between 6 and 14 take part wearing full child armour and shields, no weapons are involved. Hundreds of children representing two cities face one another in formation across a plain. Upon the sounding of a horn the ranks of children march in formation, shields raised, towards the opposing force. Their step quickens breaking into a run as they near the other, yet still maintaining formation. When suddenly both forces clash and a great scrum ensues half disguised by clouds of dust. At this point both sides try to push the other across a boundary 50 paces behind their front line. The children train all year for these ‘battles’ practising marching in formation and learning to move efficiently in full amour. Thallos was one of these ‘Children of the Line’ from 6 years old and was rarely out of his armour. Social – Suspicious: gain +1 trait bonus on sense motive checks and sense motive is always a class skill. Thallos’s city is ruled by a direct democracy were all citizens attend assemblies voting on all matters of state and serve in lawcourts as jurors. Thallos, as a typical citizen, has attended numerous assemblies and countless lawcourts. From this environment he, like many of his fellow citizens, has developed an uncanny ability to discern the truth behind the hyperbole and an immunity against even the most silver tongued persuasion.

Some sort of weapon that gives me a bonus would be nice, that -1 is going to be tiresome!! Or, some sort of strength boosting jewellery would be lovely too please!!

that -1 is going to be tiresome!! Looking at the stats it looks to me that the -1 is going to be less and less of a problem as you level up? It looks like most of your damage would likely be from sneak attack and therefore maybe items that help you flank might be best? Maybe acrobatics improvements or stealth or something teleporty? Just a thought

I'm presuming weapons is going to be something that everyone is going to be interested in.
So great big swords for Aela, small light blades for Drodal, axes (preferably dwarfen waraxes) for Kal, spears and maybe swords for Cassander, presumably scimitars for Kendra, and swords and bows for Thallos.

Continuing my read through of magic items, I've noticed another interesting item. Universal solvent for 50gp seems like a sensible one off item for someone to carry around. The kind of thing that is small light relatively cheap, often of no use, but when needed is invaluable!
When 50gp becomes only a small amount again I'll get some if available!

Yay level 2! Really enjoyed tonight - many thanks all especially our esteemed dm Here are the photos I took: 1) Drodal, Kal, Kendra and Aela finally manage to surround the strange snake thing and start to beat it to death in a subtle tactical manner... 2) Cassander, having disappeared into the darkness on his own, tries valiantly to defend some villagers from an ettercap. It doesn't go to plan but in the end one villager valiantly stays behind as the other drags the wounded Cassander away

Really enjoyed tonight's session where our intrepid heroes attempted a daring raid on a spider infested camp to rescue 2 villagers. We succeeded but not before various poisonous bites had reduced many of the party to wrecks of their former selves In addition, we were greeted by this choice from Stephen as a stand in figure for our actual foe: An interesting if disturbing choice!
