Great Damon – I'm sure I can find a few figures for you and the lad to play with
Morgan – you are welcome to come and watch, or indeed take part, as you wish
See you all Monday

Short story: Is there room for one more? Long story: there I was on Saturday night browsing the drive thru rpg / wargames vault store and noticed the PDF for Frostgrave. Temptation got the better of me and by this morning (Sunday) I was rifling through the spare room wondering what I could use from leftover models As it turned out the best variety of models I had which were not being used for anything else were a bunch of skaven. Most of Sunday later and I've stuck and painted a small Ratman warband! Here they are: (led by the slightly insane Ratman wizard 'Yarg the Fermented' and his apprentice 'Tsalut the Poor'): Hopefully nobody will mind me using Ratmen. I figure that the city of Frostgrave must have some weird side effects from all that magic! So would there be room for one more tomorrow night? I might be a bit late as I have a late meeting but hopefully not too late to join in All the best Chris

Morning Chris
Sorry for the delay in replying – no excuse really, just haven't logged on for most of the weekend
Of course there's room for one more and I'm sure nobody will mind you using ratmen Doesn't get them any special abilities of course (rules assume humans only and don't really accommodate other races), but we don't need to worry about that
See you tonight

I've chosen models with clear equivalents eg the giant rats are war hounds etc. oh and two of the ratmen have strange explosive sticks which are as effective as a bow and arrow! See you later - I'll write out my war band list on the train home so I should be ready to play when I get there

Excellent! That'll tie in nicely with Carl's Necromancer using skeletons & undead as "counts as" troops!

Just by way of clarification, I'm not expecting any of my rats to survive. It is their combat review AND I've given them all names....

Excellent! That'll tie in nicely with Carl's Necromancer using skeletons & undead as "counts as" troops! D That's perfectly OK – very thematic Just by way of clarification, I'm not expecting any of my rats to survive. It is their combat review AND I've given them all names.... I suspect that may be on the cards for all of us This is only really an educated guess based on reading the rules, but the system look decidedly brutal to me The basic attack roll is a d20 + fight skill Damage is calculated as the attack roll minus armour Armour tends to be around 10 to 12 Hit points tend to also be around the 10 to 12 area Which means a figure will probably survive the first hit (although that is by no means guaranteed) But his chances of surviving the second are slim at best Osprey seem to be aware of this – there's a point in the rulebook (in the bit about recruiting soldiers) that suggests you can give them names if you like, but it's best not to get too attached to them So, much carnage (possible even full-scale massacres) may well be the order of the day here Should be great fun

My cobblestone 3' x3' gaming mat from Deep Cut Studio has arrived and looks ace. My ruins scenery has also arrived from Amera Plastics. I've cut this out stuck it together and to foamcore and added sand. Just need to spray and paint it! Bought a glue gun to put this together. Glad I did as it made it really easy. I also haven't used a glue gun since primary school fond memories!

Basic grey dry brush complete which makes it painted enough for use. Have plans to add a central pool, some broken stained glass and multiple patches of snow but that will have to wait for another day! Quite impressed with this stuff from Amera. It isn't as detailed as full injection mould products but the price is great and the service was quick and accurate. This whole batch cost me about £35 plus shipping.

Thanks for a very enjoyable game last night Chris and Mike.
Based on the way that game played out I'm definately going to tweak my spell selection slightly, I think I had to many spells doing roughly the same kind of stuff, and I think it would be more helpful to have some other stuff that gives me helpful options in some more situations.

I very much enjoyed it too many thanks both It was great to use my newly built scenery too I'm adding the photos below. Will come back later to add captions: Mike's 'wizard with no name' advances boldly forward Little realising that the great Yarg the Fermented and his sneaky band of ratmen are honourably hidden round the corner Meanwhile Stephen's summoned giant bear runs forward threatening the stalwart innocent ratmen with dismemberment (my captions may be a tad biased...)
