As some may know, the club has a 40K and a WFB league board. In order that I can order the tokens (as it seems GF9 stock them again) I will need info from interested players. We will stick to 40K for now. By the look of the order form, you have to put in your name (limited characters, note, to fit on the tag) and your army type. If people can submit this to me in IM I will try and order some. I will give it a few weeks, to enable people to think about it. If we stick to 1000 pt armies for the League, then people will be able to get armies painted, and play in an evening. The league works by each row on the board challenging the row above. If you win, you go up a level. To start with, we will have people play a few games, to establish ranking on the board. I will then keep the board at club, so people can organise games. Dave

Still not sure about this edition of 40K - but if I don't have a token, how will I join in! So in for a token, will think on the tournament.

Thanks to Sapper for IM ing me his tag requirements. To make things easier to collate, and remember this list only holds the last 20 messages,so your indication to join may get lost in the mire, please IM me your name and faction as you wish it to be engraved on the tag. Treasury, If this turns out to be needing a bit of cash, can I claim off the cllub

I'll be taking part in this as well.
I think I'll use my Eldar as a change from the Orks.

I have a query about the character limits for the engraving on the tag.
How many letters are available for player names, and how many for the faction name?
Also, if players want to use two different armies, is this permitted? (I am thinking about using Tyranids for a few games as well as Tau for a bit of variety.)
If so, would they need two tags, or just the one?

I'm presuming that like most ladder leagues this will not be a fixed army list as such, as this keeps things a bit more interesting as you are likely to play the same people quite a few times during the course of the whole league.

I can't see why you want to include the "faction" on the tags. Most of us have more than one army and would probably like to change over the course of the league. Why not get them with just names?

Engraving the tags with names only suits me fine. As for the engraving itself, is the convention in leagues to go with Christian names (Mike), initials (MGQ) or forum usernames (mike954)? Perhaps instead of the player name and faction, we could have the player name and forum username engraved on the tags. Adding forum usernames to the tags could prevent confusion when arranging games via the forum rather than face to face. Edit: I personally found the following useful: Here is a link to an explanation about Gale Force 9's (GF9) Battle Board. www.gf9.com/resources/downloads/uploads/War%20Without%20End.pdfHere is a link to the Battle Board Support section in the GF9 online store. www.gf9.com/store/index.php?cPath=32On a side note, character limits for Gale Force 9 are as follows, listed by category just as they are on their order form along with some parenthesised pointers of doubtful usefulness added by myself: Army Name: 20 characters (eg. Wazdakka's Waaagh!) Army Type: 18 characters (eg. Orks) Email or Phone: 20 characters (eg. dave3- as we have a forum we can engrave usernames) Name: 14 characters (eg. Dave)

The idea was for one person with one faction. However, if people are ok with more than one army, just a name will do, but I think we will stick to the 1000 pt limit, so as to get more people involved This does not stop you having games outside the challenge league, of course. For info on the tags, and to check what you can get onto them, look up the site (just don't order them!) www.gf9.com/store/index.php?cPath=32&osCsid=45b76e16d8b8434b0ccf0ee13d7dbd11. So here is the definative answer... player name forum name (eg dave3) that way you can play with whatever army you have, or are likely to have in the future, and we don't need to re order new tags....OK?
